For the Beauty of the Earth

One of my favorite hymns is "For the Beauty of the Earth". They sing the hymn in Little Women when Meg gets married. I cry every time I watch that movie, usually when Beth dies or when Jo refuses Laurie. It makes me miss my sister and my childhood. My sister and I used to watch it together every Christmas Eve. I also love it when we sing it in LDS Sacrament meeting around Thanksgiving. It is such a beautiful song that talks about the beauty of this earth and God's supreme majesty in his creation - his children and this earth. Heaven seems closer as the seasons change. On my way home from work today I was listening to "The Miracle of Freedom - 7 Tipping Points". I felt so grateful for the beauty of the earth and the beauty of freedom. The book points out that as little as 5% of humankind ever have experienced the freedom we would consider to be true freedom. Freedom has come at an immeasurable cost through the centuries to bring to us the type of freedom we in America have. This book makes so many great points...go read it or listen to it on tape! Not only do I live in a county and at a time where the incredible beauty of freedom is enjoyed, I live on this amazing street in beautiful Sugar House. It looks like the street from Father of the Bride..our house is just smaller :) . I snapped a few shots while driving home. Because the pics turned out all washed out, I turned the chrome iPhone tint on to highlight the color. Blessed!
This is the view I see every morning from out front room window!
